- The birth rate is how many are born, it is often show as a fraction out of 1000
- The death rate is how many people are dying, it too is shown as a fraction out of 1000
- The population growth is how much the population grows
- The issues with a growing population are: there will be a lack of food, more countryside being claimed for cities , more waste, more pollution, housing problems, not enough fossil fuels for electricity, more disease and more.
One child policy
- The one child policy is when a couple are only allowed one child
- If a couple try to have a second child it will be killed before birth, if it is born, the parents will fined and may loose jobs
Life expectancy
- Life expectancy is how long someone is expected to live for.
- An ageing population is when people in the population are getting older. In some countries this can be a problem because the older people might not be able to use modern technology.
- The problems with an ageing population is that the longer people live for, the larger the population gets.
